The government of Barcelone announced the last July 19th that it had opened the city’s first beach where bathers can bring their dogs with them. The stretch of beach is limited by a wooden barrier and has a 1’2000square meter area that dogs are allowed to enjoy located nearby the Forum quarter.Although the area is dedicated to the pets, the zone is kind of narrow. For now, few people bring their pets to the coast but they can run and enjoy themselves freely.

Catalonia is pioneer in having beaches that allow pets and nowadays it is a pet-friendly region with Tarragona and Gerona.

The beaches that allow dogs are : la Playa de Llevant (la recién inaugurada), la Playa de les Banyeretes en Sant Pol de Mar, la Playa de les Salines en Cubelles y Cala Vallcarca en Sitges.

However, the regulation in Catalona points out that all the dogs have to be leash in the water as well as in the sand out. Now, you just need to enjoy the sun and have a good time altogether. There is no excuse to not bring them to the beach !
